Ramie is a type of nettle (the non-stinging kind!) which is a less resource intensive crop. It requires less water to produce than cotton, is highly drought resistant, naturally pest-resistant, meaning it can be grown without pesticides, and has a really high yield and growth rate.
This means ramie can be produced with significantly lower impacts on the planet and surrounding environments.
More than sustainability however, ramie fibres are strong, breathable and long-lasting. When blended with cotton, it allows us to create headwear for you that's awesome looking, soft, comfortable and built to stand the test of time.

At ETO we are committed to reducing our environmental impact as much as we can. We want to keep growing and keep improving. This means, ultimately, we want to move away from our caps being manufactured in China as soon as we can and find a more local supplier, in the UK or the EU. If any manufacturers are able to offer us high quality caps made in more sustainable, natural materials, then please reach out to us on social media or via our get in touch page, we'd love to hear from you!
ETO stock is ordered in small batches to avoid waste and over consumption. The packaging is cardboard, 100% recyclable and plastic free. ETO tags are also made out of fully biodegradable, seed tags that if you plant and water will sprout wildflowers.
As consumers you are also able to help us reduce the footprint of our clothing. This is through things such as ensuring the packaging makes it into the recycling bin and also helping us increase the circularity of our product. This can be done by listing it on a second hand site or donating it to a charity shop if you decide you no longer want it so that ETO can keep on going.
